After accomplishing one-year grant cycle, the study of the results of the above mentioned grant-competitions became crucial, as one of the main principles of the Fund has been partners’ participation in the selection of the priorities in order to prevent directives given solely by the Fund.
On the basis of 71 project researches, the Fund prepared analysis of the grant programs implemented in 2006 which is directed towards selecting a thematic area for grant-competition for 2007, identifying those spheres that especially will activate women’s groups not only in the center, but in the regions as well, and will become basis for further successful activities of the Fund.
The Fund was guided by the following indicators for identifying the winners of the grant-competition:
• Actuality of the theme
• Reality and innovative of the activities
• Giving new direction to the previous experience
• Encouragement of new, energetic and knowledgeable groups
• Importance of the region
• Sincerity and naturalness
The research revealed a real picture of women’s needs in the regions and the level of women’s activism; the regions that require attention in the first place; main spheres of women’s activism, to what extent are they ready for providing non-stereotypical ideas and innovative thinking of the proposed grant directions; real condition of women’s organization in relation to their understanding of the issue, emotional attitude and technical possibilities; and, finally, vision of future priorities for our grant-making programs 2007. In future, the principles for selecting the projects stay the same. Although, it is important to have more thought thematic area for the grant-competition, namely, to have the following principles as basis: to maintain a broad thematic area (i.e. from general women’s needs in the country) and to construct the content of the topic (the title of the competition, priorities, etc.) of the grant-competition by rising motivation and a creative impulse in applicants in order to find alternative solutions to the issues important to them, to enlarge ways of activities based on their experience, what will help us prevent standardization caused by matching projects to granting priorities, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, what is crucial, to assist groups of women think freely and make them feel that their experience is trusted and, thus, more freedom in thinking and actions are expected from them.
